A real charmer, Stan entertained us with numerous stories, videos
of trips to Borneo, and stories about lunches with Jackie Bisset while
filming The Deep. He gave pointers on video, suggesting lighting,
filter use, when to use flat ports or dome ports, how to compose.
After dives he would watch our videos and cry out "good for you"
when he saw something he liked. Down to earth, unpretentious, and
a constant source of great stories, Stanton Waterman is a great fellow
to travel with.
Mary Farmiloe, Madison, WI:
In the evenings on the live-aboard Stan treated us to mini-docs
of his travels from the Caribbean to the South Seas are crafted not
only with a biologist's accuracy but also with a poet's penchant for
the well-timed phrase. Add a modicum of whimsy and a bit of bawdy
humor and that's his evening "Bijou Entertainment". Stan
is a testament to living what you love and loving what you do and
enviably having made a living of it. It was an honor to spend time
with him.

The trip was taken with Stan Waterman, a jewel of a man who enthralled
all.
From an interview with Mike DeGruy
... as far as watching programs in an auditorium setting and listening
to the film maker narrate his footage, I have never heard any one
come close to Stan Waterman. The man is elegant, funny and totally
entertaining
Note to the above: His evening programs on the live-aboard trips
are repeats of his film festival presentations.
At his induction into the International Scuba diving hall of fame
As an eloquent public speaker and talented cinematographer, Stan
has produced scores of underwater documentaries, as well working as
associate producer and underwater cameraman on the ultimate shark
film, Blue Water, White Death. He co-directed the under-water
filming of The Deep.
From an article in the journal, SOURCES
The depth of Stan's candor, the relaxed way he talks about himself
and his work makes one forget the scope of Stan's accomplishments
in over forty years of film making. Stan possesses a fine sense of
balance, an appreciation for the sea and the creatures in it.

Think of all the insane things people have done with sharks, and
the chances are he did them first for the footage. A veteran film
maker, his contributions to the seminal shark flick, Blue Water,
White Death, have never been bettered.
