IMPORTANT NOTICE:
On January 31, while NAI’A was undergoing her annual overhaul at the Suva slipway and a team of industrial ship painters were coating a water tank beneath the passenger accommodation area, there was an explosion. Tragically, one painter died and two workers were injured. No NAI’A crew members were aboard because the ship was under the custody of the slipway contractors.

We have chartered the M/V Lycianda, a somewhat larger ship belonging to Blue Lagoon Cruises and sister ship to the well-loved Truk Odyssey, with which to run the next few charters while we rebuild NAI’A’s staterooms. We will follow the same NAI’A itineraries, with our usual cruise directors, crew, food, comfort and diving standards. NAI’A is a special and much-loved ship. But our dive services, especially the vital triangle of our independent skiffs, dedicated guides and magnificent coral reefs are the main reason you are joining us. The spirit of NAI’A will carry on even if a different hull temporarily carries the load.

NAI’A sustained significant damage inside, but her sturdy hull and machinery are unscathed. Surveys have just been completed and, not surprisingly to those who know her stout construction, she is structurally sound and fully functional. But we need to gut the passenger accommodation area and rebuild the eight staterooms. We built NAI’A in Fiji—we know the best craftsmen and how to get things done well, so we anticipate that we will finish the interior upgrade and have our girl back in service in two to three months.

Take a tour of NAI'A from bow to stern, from bridge to cabins.
